2026 Calf Scramble Entry

Deadline to enter is September 13, 2026. Entries are limited to the first 20 contestants that submit a completed, qualifying application. Your spot should be confirmed within 72 hours of submission.

Participant Information:

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Participants must meet the age requirements between 14 and 18 years old at the time of the competition. A parent/guardian MUST be present at the time of competition.

2. Participants MUST wear close-toe shoes and pants. Gloves are highly encouraged.

3. Any unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification.

Rules Overview:

• The goal is to catch a calf by the designated method and lead it into the marked holding area. First contestant to cross the finish line unassisted, will receive the top prize of $1,000.00, second will receive $750.00, the third contestant to cath and cross the line will receive $500.00, and the fourth to catch and cross the line will receive $250.00. A W-9 and liability waiver is required.

• No tackling, tripping, or unsafe actions toward other participants or the calf.

• Decisions by judges are final.

• Each approved contestant will receive 3 complimentary rodeo admissions, one for the participant and two for parents/guardian(s). Additional Tickets may be purchased ahead of time at a discount.

Liability Release & Assumption of Risk

I, the undersigned participant (and parent/guardian if the participant is a minor), acknowledge that participation in a calf scramble contest involves inherent risks including, but not limited to, injury from animals, other participants, or environmental conditions.

I understand that:

• Animals can behave unpredictably.

• Physical activity in this event carries a risk of injury.

• This event may take place on uneven or slippery surfaces.

• Photos from the event can be used in advertising on public platforms.

In consideration for being permitted to participate:

I voluntarily assume all risks associated with this activity, and I hereby release, waive and hold harmless Behind the Chutes, Cooks Rodeo Days, and Cook's Garage, and its organizers and members from any and all claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising out of my participation, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

I further agree to indemnify and defend the released parties against any claims brought on my behalf or by others as a result of my participation.

I grant permission for event organizers to use photographs, video recordings of the event that include my images or voice for promotional purposes without compensation.
